. Ktm 990 Adventure. I raised the question of T700 Vs KTM 990 Adv ( NOT the 790 ) as I have been considering how to replace my previous 990 stolen in 2017. I bought a 1987 XT 600 Tenere in the meantime which has been a great pleasure. However it has become obvious that using it to nip across to tour the Alps is not really a comfortable option.
In my opinion, the KTM 890 Adventure R and Yamaha Tenere 700 are currently the two best bikes for this type of riding, so this comparison was perfect to help me decide which bike is best for my current taste in ADV riding. Yamaha and KTM approached this small displacement ADV category from different angles.
701lr I want more capable for road touring too. Ans f850gs feel definitely lighter than r1250gsa. It’s not the lightest but I’m not looking for just off road machine. 850gs maybe lighter on paper but it is top heavy and it will go all the way down so it will be harder to pick up than GS.

The OP can get a new KLR with rear rack, engine guards, aux. lighting, side racks, USB and 12 volt outlets and panniers for $8000.00. A basic Tenere would cost $10,000.00 and you would spend more than another $1000.00 to get all the mods the stock top fo the line KLR comes with. If money were no object I would opt for the Tenere myself.
