It let's people use their imagination. Half-Life is a game series that has no cut scenes or Story Logs or anything like that. They explain very little of the story on the surface and let people figure out the rest of the story from the details, and they let them think about the rest, make up theories.
2 Half-Life 1 Was Built On A Heavily Modified Quake Engine. ID Software is the grandfather of the FPS genre, with Wolfenstein, Doom, and Quake laying the groundwork for what would come. Half-Life, which served to revolutionize, was built on a heavily modded Quake engine dubbed GoldSrc. GoldSrc would then evolve to become the Source engine, and
Though it only has about 15 minutes' worth of gameplay, the Lost Coast is a cool taste of what's to come our way. For example, Aftermath, the upcoming Half-Life 2 expansion, will fully support HDR
Half-Life 1 is the best "pure" FPS ever made, period. Better than Quake, better than Unreal, better than Half-Life 2. The original version that is, not Valve's crappy "HL: Source" port.
The original won many, many awards and was a groundbreaking release. Before Half-Life no game had ever intertwined gameplay with storytelling so gracefully. I highly recommend it. It's aged a bit, but look beyond the graphics and pay close attention while you're playing. IMO, Half-Life far exceeds the accomplishments of Half-Life 2.
. This is a good place to start with FPS games. Half-Life 2 is lauded as one of the best FPS games ever made. If you're on the fence about FPS games in general, start with Half-Life 2. It's shorter and better and better lives up to modern standards. It took me 9 hours to beat beginning to end.
Obviously the graphics won't impress, but that is besides the point. In my opinion, Half-Life (1) is one of the best video games EVER released, even being about 18 years old. I believe that it is even better than Half-Life 2 (Not to say this game isn't great also), as I have played through the entire story about 10 times without getting bored.
All new misc features like : L4D2 Muzzle Lighting, more blood option ( decals ) for all your naughty needs, blood which can be casted on every object in the game, flashlight attachment, immersive camera, camera roll and experimental dynamic grass. There's also a lot more small changes, like combine soldiers can now jump over things, hardened AI.
Half-Life 2: Episode One might not introduce any major new weapons or stunning plot twists, but the further insight it gives into the universe and characters who dwell within is unquestionably worth the experience – if only to see the enigmatic "G-Man" get well and truly pissed.
What is Half Life 2? I don't get it :p Is it worth playing in 2015? Still good quality? Are there better games out there for 10 bucks? Thx :3
is half life 2 worth it
