The vehicle does not start because transmission message is missing from engine ecu. But no other systems are faulting. Star communicates to all systems etc. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance.
Not all the W212 have the same transmission, the 4-cylinder (E200, E220 and E250) have the 5-speed automatic gearbox, while the 6- and 8-cylinder (E300, E350 and E500) are equipped with the 7G-tronic. This has a negative impact on both the performance and driving experience of the 4-cylinder W212s.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is known for its luxury and class, but, like most vehicles, over time 4th generation owners have reported common problems this vehicle has run into. In this article, we cover what these common problems are, and what their typical signs, causes, and fixes are for the Mercedes-Benz E-class (W212), years 2010-2016.
This article applies to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class w212 (2009-Present). . To preserve the Mercedes 722.6 transmission from premature failures, it is necessary to replace the planetary gear and the package of friction discs of 5-th gear. Moreover, “old” 722.5 transmissions are quite sensitive to overheating. ATF leaks lead to the oil starvation and consequent damage of friction mechanisms.

It is now nearly November and the car has barely done 1000 miles in our ownership because either the transmission / torque converters have failed and been
This article applies to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and E-Class AMG (2002-2009). If the transmission fluid level is low, the transmission's hydraulic system can exhibit main line pressure fluctuations. The erratic and unstable change in the main line pressure creates instability in the torque converter's clutch pressure.
If your older Mercedes transmission is not shifting down or going into passing gear when you floor the throttle pedal you will need to diagnose the problem.
The 2009/10 350CDI is the 232bhp engine. There were a raft of changes made for MY2011 that upped the power to 265bhp and improved both fuel consumption and lowered the emissions band for VED. Part of that efficiency improvement was wrought by the adoption of the 7G+ gearbox at the same time.
